Alessandro Circati, born on 10 October 2003 (age 22), is an Australian central defender now with Benfica. At a commanding 6ft 3in (1.90m), he brings obvious size to the position, though his career so far is still measured mainly through what he did at Parma.
Parma is where the bulk of his senior football has been played. Across five seasons there, Circati made 86 league appearances and scored two goals, establishing himself over time rather than arriving fully formed. His most productive league campaign came in 2023-24, when he made 29 appearances and scored once.
He has since moved on to Benfica, where in 2026-27 he has made four appearances across all competitions, including Liga Portugal, Europa League qualifying and the Europa League itself. He has also been involved with Australia this season, making four World Cup appearances and four more in Asian qualifying.
Circati remains a developing defender, but the shape of his career is clear enough: built at Parma, continued at Benfica, and increasingly tied to Australia at international level.
