Altay Bayındır, born on 14 April 1998 (age 28), is a Turkish goalkeeper with the sort of frame that tends to settle arguments before they start: an imposing 6ft 6in (1.98m). He is now with Celta Vigo, wearing the number one shirt.
His early senior profile was shaped at Ankaragucu, where the 2018-19 league season brought 17 appearances. That was enough to move him into a bigger Turkish setting, and it is at Fenerbahce that his career has taken its clearest shape.
Across five seasons with Fenerbahce, Bayındır made 116 league appearances. That spell, rather than the stops around it, is the substantial part of his club record: a long run as a first-team goalkeeper at one of Turkey’s biggest clubs, with all the scrutiny that tends to come attached.
He has also remained involved with Turkey, making one appearance in European World Cup qualifying this season and two in the Nations League. At this stage, his career is best read as a goalkeeper developed in Turkey, tested heavily at Fenerbahce, and now continuing in Spain with Celta Vigo.
