Presently, Nygren's market value sits at approximately £5.1m, as reported by Transfermarkt.
Nygren began his football career in IFK Gothenburg, a team in Sweden's Allsvenskan division, where he joined as a trainee in January 2017. He made his mark in the 2018 season with three first-team appearances and two goals, and further improved his record in the 2019 season with four goals across twelve matches.
In July of 2019, Nygren made a significant move from Gothenburg to join the ranks of Genk in Belgium's Pro League. The transfer cost amounted to an estimated £3.4m. His debut season in Belgium saw him make two first-team appearances, scoring once. The following season, he added three more league appearances to his record.
Looking for more game time, Nygren transferred on loan to Heerenveen in the Eredivisie division in the Netherlands in October 2020. Over two seasons, he made 45 appearances and scored four goals.
His time at Heerenveen was followed by a move to FC Nordsjaelland in the Danish Superliga in January 2022. The transfer fee, this time, was a modest £540k. During his time in Denmark, Nygren made significant strides, playing 87 first-team matches and netting 25 goals over three and a half seasons.
In July 2025, Nygren made the move to Scottish giants, Celtic, with a transfer fee of around £1.5m. Currently (in the 2025/26 season), the talented Swede has made 15 appearances in Celtic colours, scoring five goals in the process.
Off the league pitch, Nygren has clocked up minutes in the League Cup for Celtic, the World Cup Qualifiers for Sweden, and the Champions League and Europa League for Celtic, scoring a few goals in the process.
