Benjamin Tahirovic, born on 3 March 2003 (age 23), is a Bosnia and Herzegovina international defensive midfielder now with Genk. At 6ft 3in (1.91m), he is a rangy presence in the middle of the pitch, the sort of profile that tends to get noticed quickly enough.
His strongest league season so far came at Ajax in 2023-24, when he scored two goals in 26 appearances. That remains the clearest senior run in his club career, and a useful marker for a player still in the developing rather than settled category.
At Genk in 2026-27, Tahirovic has made three Pro League appearances. His current market value is around £4m, according to Transfermarkt.
He has also been involved with Bosnia and Herzegovina this season, with appearances in World Cup football, European World Cup qualifying – where he has scored once – and the Nations League. He was linked with a move to Celtic in February 2026 and again in May 2026.
Tahirovic’s career so far is that of a tall defensive midfielder with experience at Ajax, current football at Genk, and a growing international record with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
