Danny Wilson, born on quite an unremarkable day on 27 December 1991 (should I perhaps mention he shares his birth date with Johannes Kepler, the mathematician? Oh, never mind), emerged from the Scottish midwinter gloom as a footballer of sorts. Primarily serves as a central defender for that powerhouse of Scottish football, Livingston, when he's not warming the bench or perhaps nursing the frequent strains of a professional footballer. His looming 6 foot 2 inches (1.88 metres to our metric friends) frame, weighing in at 12 stone 3 pounds (78 kilograms for those more comfortable with the decimal system) is usually seen sporting the number 27 jersey, like the sports equivalent of a familiar, ragged comfort blanket.
According to those in the know at Transfermarkt, our Danny is estimated to be worth a resounding £130 thousand, which wouldn't even buy you a cupboard in most parts of London. During his debut season in 2009-2010, he gifted Rangers with 14 first-team appearances and a solitary goal. Then gallivanting to Liverpool, Blackpool and Bristol City in the following three seasons, he graced them with 9 first team appearances in total. Absolutely breathtaking dedication and achievement, truly.
He made brief, rather uninspiring stops at Hearts and Rangers, throwing together some appearances and a few goals sprinkled here and there for good measure. Notably, he dabbled an exciting play across the pond with the nicely titled Colorado Rapids (not a water amusement park, I'm afraid), where he achieved the towering glory of a couple dozen appearances each season. Oh, he also scattered a handful of goals across five seasons, with single season totals rarely exceeding one. A memorable stint indeed.
Presently, dear Danny endears himself to the 'ardent' fans of Livingston, earning his paycheck through a handful of appearances and the odd goal. His recent exploits include the famed League Cup of 2025-2026 where he pulled off a rare goal in four starts. I do hope it brought a tear to the management's eye. He also treated the spectators to his talents in the Scottish Cup of 2024-2025 and the Premier Playoff of the same year. All I can say is, bless the lad's cotton socks.
