Gianluca Scamacca, born on 1 January 1999 (age 27), is an Italian striker with Atalanta. A towering 6ft 5in (1.95m) centre-forward, he wears the No 9 shirt and carries a market value of around £30m, according to Transfermarkt.
His development was not a straight run from prospect to established senior striker. Early loan football helped give him the minutes and rough edges that young forwards often need, without turning him into a fully polished product overnight. The clearer breakthrough came later at Sassuolo.
Scamacca’s most productive league season remains 2021–22 with Sassuolo, when he scored 16 goals in 36 appearances. That campaign gave substance to the reputation: size, penalty-box presence and enough finishing to make him more than just a big man up front.
At Atalanta in 2026–27, he has made five Serie A appearances and scored one goal. He has also played twice in Conference League qualifiers, scoring once, taking his season’s Atalanta total to seven appearances and two goals. He has remained involved with Italy as well, with two appearances in European World Cup qualifying and one in the Nations League.
Scamacca’s career has been shaped by early loan spells, a strong Sassuolo season and his current role at Atalanta. He is an established Italian striker with a profile built on physical presence, senior goals and continuing international involvement.
