Iurie Iovu, born on 6 July 2002 (age 24), is a Moldovan central defender with Dundee United. A commanding 6ft 5in (1.96m), he wears the number four shirt and is the sort of centre-half whose frame is hard to miss, even before the defending starts.
His senior record includes a 2022-23 league spell with Istra 1961 in Croatia, where he made three appearances. He has since moved into Scottish football with Dundee United, where his 2026-27 campaign has brought one league appearance, two in the League Cup and one in the Scottish Cup.
Iovu has also been involved internationally with Moldova this season, making two Nations League appearances. His current market value is around £340,000, according to Transfermarkt.
At this stage, his career is still relatively lean in senior appearances, but it has already taken him from Moldova’s international set-up through Croatia and into the Scottish game with Dundee United.
