Jack Hendry, born in Glasgow on 7 May 1995 (age 31), is a Scottish central defender with an imposing 6ft 4in (1.94m) frame. He is now with Al-Ettifaq, where he wears number 4.
Hendry joined Celtic from Dundee in January 2018 for around £1.5m. It was a sizeable step from Dens Park to Celtic Park, and his time in Glasgow never quite settled into the rhythm either player or club would have wanted.
The more useful stretch came away from Celtic. His 2020-21 league season at Oostende was his most productive, with 27 appearances and two goals, and he left Celtic for the Belgian club in July 2021 for around £1.5m. He later had spells with Club Brugge and Al-Ettifaq, with Oostende the spell that did most to re-establish him after a stop-start period.
In 2026-27, Hendry has made six Pro League appearances and scored once for Al-Ettifaq. He has also been involved with Scotland this season, with three World Cup appearances, one in European World Cup qualifying, and two in the Nations League.
His career has taken him from Dundee to Celtic, then through Belgium and on to Saudi Arabia, with Scotland caps alongside the club moves. The Celtic spell was brief and uneven; the years after it gave his career a firmer shape.
