Junnosuke Suzuki, born on 12 July 2003 (age 23), is a Japanese central defender now with FC Copenhagen. He has been linked with Celtic as a possible incoming target in September 2026, though that sits in the usual transfer-window territory rather than as anything more concrete.
His career has been shaped mainly at Shonan Bellmare, where he made 49 league appearances across three seasons. That was the spell that gave him his senior base, rather than a passing stop on the way elsewhere.
Suzuki moved on to FC Copenhagen and had his most productive league season in 2025-26, scoring two goals in 21 appearances. In 2026-27, he has made nine Superliga appearances, along with five in Conference League qualifiers and one in European play-offs, giving him 15 appearances in all competitions for the club this season.
He has also been involved with Japan this season, making two World Cup appearances and one in Asian World Cup qualifying. His current market value is around Β£3m, according to Transfermarkt.
It is still a developing career, with Shonan Bellmare providing the main body of work so far and Copenhagen now the next proper test. For the moment, Suzuki is a young defender with a steady senior record rather than a finished article.
