Kyogo Furuhashi was born on 20 January 1995 (age 31) in Ikoma, Japan. A compact striker at 5ft 7in (1.70m), he was with Vissel Kobe when Celtic brought him to Glasgow in July 2021 for around £4.5m.
His first Celtic spell was clear enough. Kyogo gave the side movement, speed across the front line and clean finishing in the moments that matter. His strongest league season came in 2022-23, when he scored 27 goals in 36 appearances. During that period he won three Premiership titles, three League Cups and two Scottish Cups with Celtic.
He was linked with a move away from Celtic in January 2025, and later that month joined Rennes for around £10m. After leaving Glasgow, his route took in Rennes, Birmingham City and LA Galaxy, where his record stands at nine appearances across all competitions.
His market value is around £1.5m, according to Transfermarkt. Kyogo’s career has moved around since that first Celtic exit, but the main shape of it remains obvious: signed from Japan, productive in Glasgow, sold at a profit, and later back in the Celtic picture with plenty already done.
