Liel Abada, born in Petah Tikva, Israel, on 3 October 2001 (age 24), came through at Maccabi Petah Tikva and made his best early mark there. His most productive league season was 2020-21, when he scored 12 goals in 36 appearances.
Celtic brought the compact 5ft 6in (1.68m) right winger to Glasgow in July 2021 for around £3.5m. He arrived young, but not as a blank page, and quickly became part of a successful side. During his time at Celtic he won two Premiership titles, two Scottish Cups and two League Cups – a fair return from a spell that had plenty of movement in it.
Abada left Celtic in March 2024, joining Charlotte FC for around £6m. Now primarily used on the right wing and wearing No. 11, he has made 11 appearances for Charlotte across all competitions, including nine in MLS and two in the MLS Cup Play Offs, without scoring.
His career so far has moved from an early breakthrough in Israel, to trophies and development at Celtic, and then on to MLS with Charlotte. It is still a relatively young career, but the main turns in it are already clear enough.
