Presently donning the number 9 jersey for Dundee United is the seasoned forward Louis Moult. Born on 14 May 1992 in England, Moult, aged 32, has thoroughly adopted the striker role throughout his career. Standing at 6 feet tall (1.83m), and weighing in at 13st 5lb (85kg), his formidable presence is hard to overlook on the pitch. According to Transfermarkt, Moult's current market value stands at around £85k. His existing contract with Dundee United is due to expire soon - on 31 May 2025.
Moult embarked on his professional journey in the Championship league in England with Stoke City in 2009, paving his way with loans to lower league teams. Those included spells at Bradford City, Mansfield Town, Accrington Stanley, and Alfreton Town. In 2012, he transferred to Northampton Town before embarking on a successful loan to Nuneaton Town, becoming an important figure in their attack with 18 goals across two seasons.
After his season-long loan, Moult moved permanently to Nuneaton Town from Northampton Town in July 2013 and remained as productive as ever, repeating his prior feat of 18 goals across two seasons. He then transferred to Wrexham in 2014 where he continued to leave his mark, with 16 goals in the 2014 - 2015 season.
Moult crossed borders into the Scottish Premiership in 2015, signing for Motherwell from Wrexham for an undisclosed fee. Whilst in Scotland, he played an integral part in Motherwell's attack, scoring an impressive total of 39 goals in his three and a half-year sojourn. In his most productive season, 2016 - 2017, he notched 15 goals in the league games.
However, England renewed its call for Moult, and in January 2018, Preston North End in the Championship signed him for around £500k. His stay at Preston was marked with 7 goals across almost three seasons but was marred by spells of limited first-team opportunities.
Temporary relief from this came in the form of a loan stint at Burton Albion in 2021. Following his return from Burton Albion, he transferred back to Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership later in 2022, where he added another goal to his Scottish tally during a loan spell.
But, as fate would have it, after finishing his loan spell at Motherwell and returning briefly to Burton Albion, Moult found himself back in the Scottish Premiership with Dundee United in 2023. Here, he has so far netted 21 goals in one and a half seasons, with his current season seeing him scoring three times so far. Additionally, he was an influence in the League Cup and Scottish cup, notching two goals in four starts with two substitute appearances, and one start respectively.
