Mario Pasalic (born 9 February 1995, age 31) is a Croatia international centre midfielder with a current market value of around £11m, according to Transfermarkt.
His early senior career was shaped by loan football, a useful if slightly unglamorous education for a midfielder who needed rhythm and responsibility. Those spells helped move him from promise to regular top-level football without making any one stop the centre of the story.
That came at Atalanta. Across nine seasons he has made 267 league appearances and scored 50 league goals, a return that tells you plenty about his timing and value arriving from midfield. His most productive league campaign came in 2021-22, when he scored 13 times in 37 appearances.
In 2026-27, Pasalic has made four Serie A appearances and two more in Conference League qualifying for Atalanta. He has also remained involved with Croatia, featuring in the World Cup, World Cup qualifying and the Nations League, with one goal in the qualifiers.
Pasalic’s career has settled around Atalanta: a long-serving Croatia midfielder who offers more goal threat than the role usually promises, after a loan-heavy start that eventually gave way to continuity.
