Matty Cash, born on 7 August 1997 (age 29), is a Poland international right-back best known for his long spell at Aston Villa. His senior career gathered pace at Nottingham Forest, where early loan football helped harden him up before he became a regular at the City Ground.
His most productive league season came with Forest in 2018-19, when he scored six goals in 36 appearances. That was the spell which pushed him beyond the category of useful academy product and into something more substantial.
Aston Villa have taken up the bulk of his career since. Wearing squad number 2, Cash has made 187 league appearances for Villa across seven seasons, scoring 10 league goals. His market value is around £24m, according to Transfermarkt, which is a fair reflection of a Premier League full-back with mileage behind him rather than promise alone.
In 2026-27, he has made four Premier League appearances, along with one in the FA Cup and one in the UEFA Super Cup for Villa. He has also remained involved with Poland, playing nine World Cup qualifiers and scoring twice, as well as appearing twice in the Nations League.
Cash’s career has run from development at Nottingham Forest, through useful early loan experience, into a sustained Premier League spell with Aston Villa and regular international football with Poland.
