Oh, let me introduce you to Nicky Hogarth, a fine specimen of a goalkeeper who celebrates his birth each year in line with American Independence Day - fancy that. Born 24 years ago in the rugged hills of Scotland, he dons the illustrious number 1 jersey for Falkirk, standing about 5ft 11in tall (that's 1.82m for those on the continent) and weighing in at roughly 11st 6lb (or 73kg if you're metrically inclined).
Now, let's talk money shall we? According to Transfermarkt, the bloke's price tag hovers around the £100k mark, and his contract with Falkirk has less time left on it than a chocolate teapot in the Sahara. TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK, Hogarth, the countdown to 31 May 2026 is well and truly on.
The journey of this man's professional career is akin to a game of pass the parcel, albeit with clubs instead of gifts. Our Hogarth started his training years in Scotland's Premiership level with Rangers in July 2017. He then decided to spice things up a little, fancying a wee loan spell, and found himself trotting off to Stirling Albion in Scotland's League Two in January 2020. But why settle for League Two when there’s a lower division to explore? Yes, you guessed it, he dusted off his gloves for yet another loan swap in December 2020, this time to Cowdenbeath in the Lowland League.
Just when you thought he might be getting homesick, our chap takes a bold leap across the border and finds himself in the bustling city of Nottingham. He joined Forest in the Premier League in England in July 2021. But like a true boomerang, he found himself back in Scotland, this time with Falkirk in our Premiership, on loan in August 2022.
His stats during his debut season 2022-2023 with Falkirk were not completely dismal, with 15 first team league appearances. The following season saw him, amazingly, increase this tally to 36 first team league appearances. However, in the current season of 2025-2026, our dear Hogarth has barely troubled the churned turf of the Falkirk pitch. Perhaps he's just spectating nowadays.
Oh, did I forget to mention? Our shifting stopper made a permanent move from Nottingham Forest to Falkirk in July 2023. And finally, one can’t overlook his minor forays into the League and Scottish Cup events; a humble two starts for Falkirk in the League Cup 2025-2026, and one solitary start in the Scottish Cup 2024-2025. Evidently, Cup glory is not high on this chap’s priority list.
