Nico Schlotterbeck, born on 1 December 1999 (age 26), is a Germany international central defender with Borussia Dortmund. A commanding 6ft 3in (1.91m) presence, he wears the number four shirt and is valued at around £34m, according to Transfermarkt.
His early senior development included loan football, the kind of spell that can strip a defender of any academy softness quickly enough. Dortmund is where his career has properly settled. Across five seasons there, he has made 114 league appearances and scored 11 league goals, becoming a regular part of the side rather than a name passing through.
His most productive league campaign came in 2025–26, when he scored five goals in 28 appearances for Dortmund. In 2026–27, he has made two league appearances, while also remaining involved with Germany: two World Cup appearances with one goal, three World Cup qualifying appearances, and one Nations League appearance.
Schlotterbeck’s career is now shaped chiefly by Dortmund and Germany duty. The loan stages helped form him, but his main body of work has come as an established Bundesliga centre-half.
