Odsonne Édouard was born on 16 January 1998 (age 28) in Kourou, French Guiana, and came through the French system as a striker with Paris Saint-Germain. Celtic took him from PSG in August 2017, at the point where he needed senior football rather than another year of being discussed as potential.
That early Celtic spell did plenty for him. He had to carry expectation in a side built to dominate domestically, where a striker is judged quickly and usually without much mercy. He handled it well enough. By 2019–20 he was Celtic’s main attacking point and produced his best league season: 22 goals in 27 appearances.
Édouard left Celtic in August 2021 for Crystal Palace in a deal worth around £14m. England gave him a different sort of test: less control, fewer routine spells of pressure, and less room for a forward to drift through matches. His Palace years kept him at a strong level, though without the same rhythm he had found in Glasgow.
He is now with Lens, primarily as a striker and wearing No 22. In 2026–27 he has made four Ligue 1 appearances, five in the Coupe de France, where he has scored twice, and one in the Champions League. His market value is around £7m, according to Transfermarkt.
His career runs from PSG promise to a decisive Celtic period, then on to Crystal Palace and Lens. At Celtic he was an important first-team striker, and at his best a very efficient one.
