Scott Arfield, born on 1 November 1988 and now approaching veteran status at the ripe old age of 36, hailed from the Scottish highlands before this capricious game we call football carried him all around the globe. A bloke of middling height, Arfield stands at 5ft 10in (that's about 1.78m for those of you who spend too much time on the Continent), and tips the scales to 11 stone (or around 70kg, again for those of you with a penchant for pastries and a dislike for imperial). Falkirk is where he currently earns his crust, donning the number 37 jersey and playing the role of a central midfielder.
If you were interested in plundering Arfield's services, you'd have to dig relatively shallow into your coffers. According to the online marketplace known as Transfermarkt, his current worth is around £100k. At the risk of breaking any hearts, I should note that his Falkirk contract only has about 10 months left to run, set to expire like a disappointing milk carton on the 31 May 2026.
To trace his career arc, we have to venture back to the summer of 2006 where this journey all began for Arfield with a trainee contract at Falkirk. He performed admirably over the proceeding seasons, scoring goals and making appearances as frequently as the Scottish weather changes - a compliment, for the uninitiated.
His wanderlust first kicked in in July 2010 when he packed his bags for a £400,000 cross-border expedition to Huddersfield Town in the English League One. There, he got to ply (or perhaps endure) his trade for a few seasons, before high-rolling Burnley took him under their wing in July 2013.
He spent his days happily scoring the odd goal and making a hearty number of appearances in England's Premier League for a handful of seasons before the call of his homeland proved too strong. A return to Scotland was on the cards, but alas not to Falkirk. Rangers secured his signature in July 2018.
A couple of seasons playing the beautiful game in familiar Scottish surrounds ensued, before Arfield hopped on a plane to the States to join Charlotte FC in the MLS in 2023. His American dream was short-lived, however, as he made a rather hasty departure to join Bolton Wanderers in England’s League One just a year later.
Unsurprisingly, as seasons changed and as the circular nature of football often dictates, Arfield found himself once more at Falkirk in 2025. There he continues to tally up his goal count and add to his appearance record.
Most recently, Arfield has been embarking on a commendable League Cup stint for Falkirk during the 2025-2026 season, scoring a tidy three goals in three starts. Not bad for a man of his advanced footballing years.
