Right, let's talk about Sean Mackie. Born in Scotland on the 4th of November in the fruitful year of 1998, Sean today is doing quite well for himself. Standing at 5ft 8in (1.73 metres), and weighing around 10st 12lb (69 kilos), Sean, at a ripe age of 26, primarily operates as a defender, more specifically a left back, playing for the rather down-to-earth Falkirk.
Despite his average build, he stands out with his striking number 26 jersey - an arbitrary figure for most, but not to our Sean. If you are toying with the prospect of wrestling him away from Falkirk, you'll have to do so in the next three months, as his contract expires at the end of May 2025. I know, the suspense is just gripping.
In the beginning, Sean joined Raith Rovers back in July 2015, when he was still wet behind the ears. In his debut year with Raith Rovers, he managed to grace the field in exactly one first team league match. Quite an accomplishment, wouldn't you say? He was soon transferred to Hibernian in February 2016, for a heart-stopping amount of £75k. Throughout his diverse seasons at Hibernian, Mackie's first team league appearances varied from a number as low as one, up to an electrifying ten in the 2018 - 2019 season.
An added twist came in July 2016, when he was loaned to Berwick Rangers, where he managed to squeeze in four league matches. Being a sporting nomad, he also sojourned with Edinburgh City on loan, where he played in six more league matches. As if we hadn't had enough twists and turns, in September 2019, Sean found himself with Dundee, yet again on loan. I imagine he felt like a library book at this point.
After journeying through numerous teams, in July 2022, Sean finally put down roots at Falkirk. Across multiple seasons here, he has made anywhere between one and 20 appearances, even netting three goals - quite the prolific scorer, our Sean.
He's also made a couple of starts in the League Cup for Falkirk and one in the Scottish Cup, because, why not? Busy bee our Sean, really putting in the hours.
