Stuart Armstrong was born in Inverness on 30 March 1992 (age 33), and built his senior career as a Scottish centre midfielder with enough technical polish to make him useful in good teams rather than merely busy ones.
Celtic signed him from Dundee United in February 2015 for around £2m, a sensible move for a player who had already shown he could handle the domestic level. His best league season came in 2016 - 2017, when he scored 15 goals in 31 appearances for Celtic – a serious return from midfield, and not one padded out by reputation.
